Scuba Diving Holidays in Fiji

Scuba Diving in Fiji for professional and new divers

Fiji has earned the nickname as ' soft coral capital of the world '. However, there is more to dive sites in Fiji than a colourful underwater garden. Dive sites for beginners and dive sites that are more challenging offer a diverse range of sub-ocean marine life that also includes hard corals, colourful coral fish, pelagics such as barracuda, tuna, wahoo and walu, reef sharks, manta rays, turtles and much much more. Scuba divers from around the world visit Fiji to experience an all-round diving holiday, staying at dive resorts (luxury to budget), dive lodges, liveaboards, sailing cruises and small motorised cruise ships. On non-dive days, Fiji also offers so many activities, both on the water and on land.

Dive Travellers in Fiji - Top Dive Locations

  • Taveuni - one of the best dive locations in Fiji because of the world-class Rainbow Reef. Accessed from Taveuni and some parts of Vanua Levu, the reef sits in the Somosomo Strait that divides the two islands. Fed by nutrient-rich ocean currents passing through the strait has ensured a rich coral wonderland, coral fishes and pelagics. Don't miss the Great White Wall, one of the reef's world-famous dive sites.
  • Kadavu - the Great Astrolabe Reef is accessed from the eastern end of Kadavu and Ono Island. One of Fiji's most beautiful dive site locations.
  • Beqa Lagoon south of the main island offers spectacular diving and is famous for its shark-feeding dives. Stay on one of the Beqa Resorts or at Pacific Harbour as there are a number of dive operators who do daily excursions to Beqa Lagoon.
  • Lomaiviti (central Fiji) - pristine reefs that are visited by divers staying at small islands in the Koro Sea such as Wakaya and Ovalau. Many of the reefs are only accessible by liveaboard such as the Nai'a due to their remoteness.
  • Savusavu (southern coastline of Vanua Levu). These reefs are accessed by divers staying in the Savusavu area.
  • Namena Reefs encircle the island of Namenalala, an eco paradise island accessed by boat from Savusavu with just a handful of accommodation bure called Moody's Namena.
  • Yasawa and Mamanuca island groups. There are dive sites throughout the Mamanuca and Yasawa Island groups. Though not as famous as, say, Taveuni's Rainbow Reef and the Great Astrolable reef, nevertheless some great diving can be found there and can be combined with accommodation at one of many tropical island resorts from luxury down to backpacker.
Fiji is an underwater mecca for scuba divers from all over the world.
