Homestay Accommodation in Suva

Although Suva is the capital of Fiji and has a number of modern high-rise hotels, it is also a relaxed and laid-back city offering other forms of accommodation. Buildings in the central CBD and surrounding districts reflect a blend of modern architecture with Fiji's colonial heritage. Many graceful Colonial homes can be seen along streets around the city and some of these have been adapted to provide homestay accommodation. Homestay Suva and Five Princes Hotel are both found along the Tamavua ridge area. This was a favourite location for well-to-do families of Suva's past. The Five Princes Hotel (pictured at top) is not so much a homestay as a private hotel, offering stylish rooms with timber floors and modern fittings in the main building, as well as individual 'bure' rooms in the gardens. It is included because it is such a graceful Colonial home. The dining area is a semi-enclosed spacious verandah that conjures up days gone by in Suva's historic past.
