Budget & Backpacker Travel in Taveuni

Taveuni is serviced by weekly inter-island ferries that dock between Waiyevo and Wairiki. This allows low-cost access to the island by budget travellers instead of arriving by plane into Matei. Local buses ply the coastal road allowing good transportation around the island. Matei is a favourite area for backpackers and budget travellers, with several campgrounds and budget bure resorts. There are also some good beaches, eating places, dive operations and a Sea-Spi company for great snorkelling experiences! Waimakare is between Somosomo and Waiyevo. Just up the road from the oceanfront, it has a lovely waterfall setting.
